Antelope & Grand Canyon On The Cheap

In early Feb of this year, I had a few days off during the week and decided spontaneously to see the Grand Canyon. The thing with traveling our nationals parks here in the Western US, there’s a LOT of driving through the desert and the hotels are not cheap since they know you have little options. SO, I weighed the benefits and booked a CHINESE TOUR BUS. Yep.

Although I’ve never used a tour company before and was a bit adverse to the idea. This one from Globerouter.Com happened to fit my solo travel needs that week perfectly!

The $380 package included:

  • Bus transportation LA-LV (500 miles round trip)

  • Daily bus transportation from Vegas to scenic site (500-600 miles PER day)

  • 3 Nights hotel stay in Vegas

  • 3 Total scenic stops (Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon, Grand Canyon South Rim)

  • Simple lunch daily

Personal notes

Any large tour groups will give you a bit of headache. I packed a few good books, brought along plenty of snacks, a comfy travel pillow and pretended I didn’t speak Chinese HAHA. The large families around me generally left me alone. If you know what to expect and prepare accordingly you’ll be allright.

Don’t chose these activities for a typical “Vegas Trip.” You’ll be on an early to rise schedule AND residing at the far north end of the Vegas Strip.

Most tour guests based in Las Vegas are housed at the Stratosphere Hotel. Personally I don’t mind a 3 star hotel, the rates are so cheap that it’s always easy to be nice at the front desk and get an upgradeeeeee like me. Woohoo #TravelHacks!

I learned later on you can simply buy the daily bus tours based out of Vegas (duh!) so if you’re not a Los Angeles resident you can still easily take these tours. In fact, skip the long ride and fly yourself to Vegas. But overall, still totally worth it.
