Glamping in Big Sur California

The road to Big Sur, closed for over a year from landslides, reopened this Summer! Although it was nice to have less crowds during the closures, I'm happy this amazing little community gets more traffic.

There are much pricier, luxe, glamping options in the area, but for my intents and purposes I was incredibly happy to have found a privately owned site Fernwood Campground & Resort.

You can choose from

  1. Motel

  2. Tent Camping

  3. RV Camping

  4. Small Cabins

  5. Adventure Tents

Considering I flew into San Jose for a primary trip and then drove down the coast to Big Sur, I was short most of my camping supplies. Because of this, it was highly beneficial to enjoy these amenities with my Adventure Tent at Fernwood.

  • Clean, fully functioning, almost hotel-like, restrooms in every section

  • Door locks & keys except tent camping

  • General store, camping supplies, firewood

  • Electricity/heater except tent camping

  • Restaurant Bar & Grill

  • Deck dining with outdoor fires

  • Wake up in the middle of redwood trees

  • Immediate access to river/hikes/attractions

I spent my free day exploring the river in front of my campsite, hiking McWay Falls, enjoyed a delicious lunch with views at Cafe Kevah , a flute of Rosé at Nepenthe and watched the sun set over Bixby Bridge. Whether you're driving along the jagged coastline or through endless giant trees, every road in Big Sur is beautiful.
