Tokyo Top Five

Updated: Sep 5, 2019

  1. Harajuku. Neighborhood to stay and shop. Busy Takeshita Street pours into Omotesando Avenue to find Tokyo only Nike gear or a 6 story Kiddyland. Book local lodging and wander the alleys.

  2. Jumbo. Yakiniku Restaurant for #Wagyu. Ask concierge to book a table if possible. Worth a try either way. Get the $20/bite A5 grilled and dipped in egg. Yes. Let this be your splurge meal of Tokyo.

  3. Roppongi Hills Skytree. Retail area and sightseeing up high. High end area in the hills, gangsters night time karaoke in the streets. Love the amazing views of an expansive city both day and night from the Skytree.

  4. Shibuya Crossing. Iconic from any angle. You can try Hoshino Coffee or both levels of L'Occitane Cafe for a chance to sit down, enjoy some fluffy pancakes and try 6 times to timelapse the mass of crossing people.

  5. Meiji Shrine. Scenic green walk. I can never resist the call to get away from the city. You turn a corner from the anime wall of the Harajuku Station into a tree scene straight out of Totoro.

Bonus*

If you're not stopping in Kyoto, head over to the Hie Shrine or Nezu Shrine right in Tokyo for a mini taste of the famous #ToriGates. Cover photo shown of my friends on our kawaii Yukata day at Hie Shrine.

Tokyo has much to see but don't forget to take these choices below and get out of the city! Full doc here.
